In the IELTS Writing Task 2 Opinion Essay, you must write an essay that shows your personal opinion about a given topic.
You must clearly agree, disagree, or partly agree with the statement.
You must explain your opinion with reasons and examples.

- “Do you agree or disagree?” β Choose one side (agree or disagree).
- “To what extent do you agree or disagree?” β You can fully agree, fully disagree, or partially agree (for example, agree to a large extent but not completely).
- “What is your opinion?” β Give your personal view clearly.

- You must clearly say what you thinkβ whether you agree, disagree, or partly agree.
- Your opinion should be clear from the beginning to the end.
- You can fully agree, fully disagree, or partly agree β but you must be consistent.
- If you agree, all your body paragraphs must support agreeing.
- If you disagree, all paragraphs must support disagreeing.
- Stay Focused: Every paragraph must support your opinion β always give clear reasons and examples.
- Use Linking Words: (Firstly, In addition, Moreover, Therefore, In conclusion) to make your ideas flow.
- Give Examples: Real or made-up examples make your argument stronger.
- Manage Time: Spend about 40 minutes β 5 for planning, 30 for writing, 5 for checking.
- Use Formal Language: Avoid contractions (write “do not” instead of “don’t”).
- Stay Balanced if Needed: You can partly agree, but be clear about it.
- Write about 270β290 words for a complete, detailed essay.
