✅ Key characteristics :

  • You will see a map or plan (e.g., a building, street, or area layout).
  • Some locations on the map are marked with numbers or letters.
  • No answer options are given—You must fill in the missing labels by listening to the recording.
  • The speaker will give directions or describe locations clearly.
  • This task often appears in Section 2 of the Listening test.
  • You must use the exact words from the recording.
  • Instructions will show a word limit (e.g., No more than two words).
  • You must spell words correctly and use the correct grammar.
  • The task tests your ability to follow spoken directions and understand spatial language (e.g., “on the left,” “behind,” “next to”).
  • The answers come in the same order as you hear them in the audio.

⭐️ Important Tips :

  1. Read the instructions Check the word limit and the type of answer required (e.g., place name, room).
  2. Study the map or plan first Look for entrances, compass directions (N/S/E/W), and any labelled points.
  3. Listen for directions Focus on words like left, right, next to, opposite, and past to follow locations.
  4. Follow the speaker’s path Imagine moving through the map with the speaker as they describe it.
  5. Use known points as clues The speaker often refers to known places to describe new ones.
  6. Write what you hear Use correct spelling and stick to the words from the recording.
  7. Don’t panic if you miss one Keep listening. Answers usually follow the same order as the speaker’s description.
