You need to explain your ideas, give details, and stay focused on the topic.

✅ Key characteristics :

  • The examiner will give you a task card with a topic to talk about.
  • The card will have three points to guide your answer, plus one extra line like “Explain why…” or “Say how you felt about it.”
  • You will have 1 minute to prepare, during which you can make notes.
  • Then, you must speak for 1 to 2 minutes on the topic without the examiner interrupting.
  • You must talk about all the points on the card to show fluency and organization.
  • The examiner will tell you when to stop and may ask one or two follow-up questions related to the topic.
  • The topic is usually about your experience, feelings, or opinions — not academic or difficult.
  • Don’t worry about being 100% truthful — it’s okay to make up a story as long as it sounds natural.

🧠 How to Prepare During the 1-Minute Time

  • Read the topic card carefully.
  • Use the provided paper and pencil to write down a few keywords or ideas for each bullet point.
  • Plan a logical order to speak (start, middle, end).
  • Think of specific examples or personal experiences related to the topic.

⭐ Important Tips :

  • Cover All Points
    • Make sure you talk about each bullet point on the card.
    • You do not have to follow the order, but try not to skip any part.
  • Speak for the Full Time
    • Try to keep speaking for at least 1 minute and ideally closer to 2 minutes.
    • If you finish early, add more detail or examples to expand your answer.
  • Use Linking Words
    • Organize your speech using connectors like: “First of all…”, “For example…”, “In the end…”
  • Be Clear and Confident
    • Speak at a natural pace and avoid long pauses.
    • It’s okay to correct yourself, but do smoothly.
  • Add Personal Touch
    • Use personal stories or real-life experiences — this makes your answer more interesting and fluent.
