Overview
In the IELTS Reading Flow Chart (Without Choices) task, you’ll see a flow chart that shows the steps of a process, with some parts missing, and your job is to fill in the blanks using words from the reading passage.
There are no answer choices given, so you have to find the exact words in the text. Always check the instructions for the word limit (like “No more than two words”).

✅Key characteristics :
- Look for a cause-and-effect relationship, sequence adverbs, or linking words in the passage.
- This task does not necessarily focus on one part of the passage. Sometimes, the answers are in different parts of the text.
- The questions do not necessarily come in the order of the passage.
- A word limit is given in the instructions (e.g., No more than two words and/or a number), which must be followed exactly.
- The task tests your ability to understand and follow a sequence of steps or events described in the passage.
- Skimming helps you find the right section, and scanning helps you find the exact words to complete the chart.
- The completed flow chart must be grammatically correct and make logical sense.
⭐️ Important Tips :
- Skim the passage to locate the relevant information and scan for the exact details that match each blank.
- Understand the flow chart’s process before reading.
- Underline keywords to help locate answers.
- Ensure answers fit grammatically.
- Watch for paraphrasing in the chart.
- Double-check spelling and word count.
- Avoid writing more words than allowed ,guessing or using your own words.
- Don’t change the word form, like pluralizing a noun, and make sure your answer fits the sentence structure.
