Sentence Completion

Complete sentences by filling in missing words from the reading passage.

Overview

In the IELTS Reading Sentence Completion task, you are given incomplete sentences based on information from the reading passage.

The task is to complete each sentence using the correct words directly from the passage. The instructions will clearly state a word limit (e.g., No more than two words and/or a number), and it is essential to follow this rule strictly—exceeding the limit will result in a wrong answer.

To answer, read the sentence carefully, predict what kind of word is needed, and scan the passage to find the matching idea. The wording is often paraphrased, so focus on meaning, not just exact words.
