Overview

In the Reading Summary Completion (with choices) task, you are given a short summary of part of the reading passage with several blanks.

A box containing a list of words or phrases is provided, and the task is to select the correct word or phrase from the box to fill each gap.

Key Characteristics —

  • You are given a short summary of part of the reading passage with some words missing, and you need to fill in the blanks.
  • A list of words or phrases is provided. You must choose the correct ones to complete the summary.
  • You should only use words from the list. Do not use your own words.
  • Usually, each word can only be used once, unless the instructions say otherwise.
  • Instructions may include a word limit (e.g., One word only). Follow this rule carefully.
  • This task tests your ability to understand the overall meaning and key details in the passage.
  • Skim to locate the right part of the text and scan for matching ideas to choose the correct word.

⭐️Important Tips:

  • First read the summary to understand the overall topic and what kind of information is missing in each blank.
  • The summary is often paraphrased, so the correct answer may not use the exact words from the passage . Focus on understanding the context.
  • Avoid distractor words in the box that seem correct but do not fit the context or grammar of the sentence .
  • Read the full sentence with your choice to confirm it sounds natural.
  • Use skimming and scanning ,understand paraphrasing, and read both the summary and the passage closely to ensure accuracy.
  • Once the correct part of the passage is located, candidates should read it carefully and compare it with the summary and the word choices, selecting the option that best fits both in meaning and grammar.
